About the Event

What drives people, especially women, to turn to sex work? Kava's play gives a voice to these women, telling their stories with compassion

Economics are a driving factor in many of the decisions that we make every day, including life changing choices. The same goes for Lily, a young woman who enters Lana's brothel to give both herself and her baby a better chance at life. With a goal of making $20, 000 in one month, Lily has the cards stacked against her. The only people she can turn to while in the brothel are the other sex workers (Pat, Laurel, George, and Jean) and the Madame, Lana.

Handled with care and humor, this play unravels the lives of these women as they try to survive in a world with limited opportunities for young women without an education or support system to fall back on.
