We invite participants to offer a suggested donation of $20. Please register for the event on Eventbrite, then send your suggested donation via Venmo to Stephanie Schiavenato (@Stephanie-Schiavenato).

FACILITATORS:

Neelu Shruti

Neelu is a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Registered Nurse, Yoga expert specializing in Fertility, Prenatal, Postnatal and Baby & Me Yoga, a Full-Spectrum Doula, Childbirth Educator and Breastfeeding Counselor based in New York City.

Neelu was fortunate to be introduced to yoga at a young age while attending Rishi Valley, a boarding school in India founded by the philosopher J. Krishnamurti. Neelu moved to the U.S. in 2003 pursuing a degree in architecture from The University of Texas at Austin and moved to NYC in 2007 to work in the field. After working at several high profile firms and only practicing and teaching yoga on the side, in 2015, seeing the impact she was having as a prenatal & postnatal yoga teacher and doula she quit her day job as an architect and founded Love Child and has never looked back. https://www.lovechildyoga.com/neelu

Stephanie Schiavenato

Stephanie is one of the most experienced doulas in the country, with nearly 20 years of experience and over 700 births attended. She is also a lactation counselor, anthropologist, and filmmaker. Stephanie holds degrees in Gender Studies and Anthropology, and her doctoral research at NYU focused on how families navigate pregnancy loss. She brings a trauma‑informed, cross‑cultural approach to her work, shaped by volunteer experiences in birth centers in Uganda and Senegal. Stephanie is the director of Mother Cake, a short documentary exploring the afterlife of the placenta. The film traces how placentas are treated as medical waste in contemporary medicine, even though many cultures have long honored them in ritual and memory. She is also producing the forthcoming documentary Adventures in Miscarriage—a film that examines the inadequate state of miscarriage care in the U.S. and uplifts voices that demand change. https://www.stephanienycdoula.com/about
