About the book:

A new Christmas classic from Jan Brett with an adventurous boy and an adorable pug in a Christmas sweater who saves the day!

Yiayia is thrilled with the fantastically adorned Christmas sweater she made for her grandson’s dog, Ariadne. Her grandson Theo loves it too, but he can tell Ari does not feel the same way. Luckily, Theo knows exactly what will show her just how cozy and warm the sweater is—a hike to Echo Lake. And he can wear his new snowshoes!

The woods are a winter wonderland, and more snow swirls as they hike. But just when they reach the lake, Theo realizes Ari’s sweater has disappeared, along with their tracks and every familiar landmark. Could they have lost Yiayia’s gift andthe way home?

Luckily, Ari spots something in the snow that turns out to be a surprising solution to their predicament. And when they get home, they find an even bigger surprise from that amazing Christmas sweater.

Drawing inspiration from Greek mythology, Jan Brett’s story of the bond between boy and dog radiates warmth and charm, while her signature border details hint at a final Christmas miracle sure to wow any crowd.

About the author:

Jan Brett lives in a seacoast town in Massachusetts close to where she grew up. During the summer, her family moves to a home in the Berkshire Hills. She is a New York Times #1 bestselling author/illustrator, one of America’s most popular, with over 44 million books in print, and has brought to life lovable characters and imaginary backdrops for children for more than 40 years. Her illustrations are adored for their classic beauty and vibrant, life-like images of animals, landscapes, and flourishes from cultures around the world.

As a child, Jan Brett decided to be an illustrator and spent many hours reading and drawing. She says, “I remember the special quiet of rainy days, when I felt that I could enter the pages of my beautiful picture books. Now I try to recreate that feeling of believing that the imaginary place I’m drawing really exists. The detail in my work helps to convince me, and I hope others as well, that such places might be real.”

While Jan is most known for her children’s books, she is also an award-winning breeder of ornamental fowl (fancy chickens!). Some of her best book ideas come from other interests including extensive travel and exploration of the natural world, marathon training, and while listening to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where her husband is a musician.

By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business – you’re showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople.

Thank you for supporting Jan Brett and your local independent bookstore!
