About the Event

Health Fair - Joliet, Shorewood & South Plainfield: Meet local wellness experts & discover ways to thrive—for you, your family & community.

Welcome to the first annual Healthy You, Stronger Family health fair - a vital community event designed to connect busy, overstretched adults in our community with the professional support they desperately need. We're bringing together healthcare providers, wellness professionals, and community organizations to serve adults who are tired of watching their health decline while caring for everyone else.

By supporting the health and wellbeing of busy, overworked adults, we create stronger families and a thriving community.

The need for this health fair has never been greater. In August 2024, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy issued a landmark public health advisory titled "Parents Under Pressure," declaring parental stress an urgent public health crisis. The report revealed staggering statistics:

- 48% of parents report feeling completely overwhelmed by stress most days

- 41% of parents and caregivers are so stressed they cannot function on most days

- Parents consistently report higher stress levels than adults without children over the past decade

- Modern parents face unprecedented challenges balancing work, caregiving, financial pressures, and social isolation

The target audience consists of busy adults in the "sandwich generation" who are:

- Caring for children while also supporting aging parents

- Feeling burned out, overwhelmed, and stretched thin

- Watching their own health decline while prioritizing everyone else's needs

- Struggling to find time for self-care and wellness

- Looking for realistic, actionable steps to reclaim their health and energy

- Seeking professional support that understands their unique challenges

These are the people who are "just holding on, trying to keep their heads above water every day." They need our professional community to step up and provide the support systems that will help them not just survive, but thrive.

When we support the caregivers in our community, everyone benefits:

- Stronger Families: Healthier parents raise healthier children

- Thriving Schools: Less stressed families create more engaged students and supportive school communities

- Robust Local Economy: Healthy community members are more productive and engaged consumers

- Connected Community: Reduced isolation leads to stronger social bonds and community resilience

As professionals in our community, we have the opportunity and responsibility to support these essential caregivers. When they thrive, we all thrive.

We're seeking healthcare providers, wellness professionals, and community organizations who want to:

- Connect with busy adults who need your services but may not know how to access them

- Demonstrate your understanding of the unique challenges facing overwhelmed caregivers

- Showcase services that offer realistic, sustainable solutions for time-strapped families

- Build relationships with potential clients who value professional support

- Contribute to meaningful community health improvement

Format: Interactive booths, brief presentations, resource sharing, and networking opportunities.

In-Person Fair: Traditional health fair experience with booths, face-to-face interactions, and immediate community connections.

Virtual Health Fair: Extended online presence featuring:

- 5-10 minute professional interviews with each participating business

- Interviews posted on the event's social media pages for immediate visibility

- Recorded content with links sent to all attendees for convenient viewing at their leisure

- Expanded reach to community members who cannot attend in person

- Lasting digital presence that continues promoting your services beyond the event day

Ready to be part of the solution? Join us in supporting our community's caregivers and help make the inaugural Healthy You, Stronger Family health fair a success that we can build on for years to come.
