About the Event
An evening author event at Bookends & Beginnings.
On Monday, June 9, at 6:00 PM, award-winning author Karen Babine will join Bookends & Beginnings for an author talk and Q&A about her new book, The Allure of Elsewhere: A Memoir of Going Solo. In this candid, powerful, and courageous memoir, Karen reflects on her solo journey to Novia Scotia, where her French-Acadian ancestors settled in North America four centuries ago. Written with wry wit and warmth, this memoir captures the joy and freedom of the open road while interrogating the power of family histories and stories.
The event will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, and will be followed by a book signing. The MiniBar and doors will both open at 5:30 for this event.
KAREN BABINE is the two-time Minnesota Book Award-winning author of All the Wild Hungers: A Season of Cooking and Cancer and Water and What We Know: Following the Roots of a Northern Life and the editor of Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies. She is currently an UC Foundation Associate Professor of English at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
