About the Event

An in-person book club focusing on writers writing about writing!

Writers at Work is an in-person book club dedicated to the craft of writing. ALL writers are welcome, from the experienced professional to the nervous beginner and everyone in between. Join us for inspiration, community, and a hands-on exploration of some of the most interesting and exciting books about writing that are out there today.

This month's book will be Maggie Smith's much-lauded recent release Dear Writer: Pep Talks & Practical Advice for the Creative Life. Discussion will be led by Bookends University Programming Director Jeremy T. Wilson.

The meeting will include an optional happy hour, with time to mix and mingle, get a drink from the Mini Bar, and do a little browsing or book buying. Happy hour will be followed by ninety minutes of book discussion and guided, no-pressure writing prompts. You may leave with the start of a new story, essay, or poem!

Tuition includes a copy of the book. You can pick up your book at the store or have it mailed to you.

Jeremy T. Wilson is the author of the novel The Quail Who Wears the Shirt and the short story collection Adult Teeth. He is a former winner of the Chicago Tribune's Nelson Algren Award for short fiction and his work has appeared in The Carolina Quarterly, The Florida Review, Jet Fuel Review, The Masters Review, Sonora Review, Third Coast, The Best Small Fictions 2020, and other publications.
