About the Event
Would you like to connect with your senses and learn to convey the essence of your culinary creations through photography?
This workshop is designed to provide a unique space for participants to explore the sensory experience of food through the combined practices of mindful eating and smartphone photography. The aim is to help food enthusiasts and food entrepreneurs deepen their connection with food and learn how to visually communicate that connection effectively through compelling photographs for their gastronomic ventures or cultural foods.
About the facilitators of the workshop
The workshop is facilitated by two experienced professionals. María Gangotena is a specialist in nutritional education and a mindful eating facilitator with over ten years of experience and a strong academic background, including a Doctorate in Education. Marycarla Quintazzi is a seasoned instructor and facilitator of smartphone photography workshops with extensive international experience in media and communications, holding a Diploma in Digital Photography.

🎯 What You'll Learn
A reflective and experiential learning environment where you and other participants can connect deeply with their senses through mindful eating.
How to maximize their smartphone cameras to create attractive and engaging food images for social media.
Composition, lighting, and styling techniques to translate their sensory experiences into attractive images that communicate the essence of their dishes.
🎯 Why Attend?
By the end of the class, you will develop a greater ability to perceive and appreciate the sensory characteristics of food though mindful eating (aroma, texture, taste, color) which will help you to identify key elements to convey in their photographs.
You will gain an understanding of how to tell stories through their photographs, connecting emotions and the identity of their venture with their target audience.
You will feel empowered, more comfortable and creative in using their smartphones for photography.
DURATION: Approx 2 hrs
Requirement: Each participant must bring a fully charged smartphone capable of taking photographs. There are outlets in the meeting room if you bring your own charger.

Hands-on and DIY workshop
Inclusive and safe atmosphere
Participants will team up in pairs to set up their photo station
A mandarin for each participant will be provided for the Module 1 of the workshop
Photography material and gear will be available to use and share.

SPECIAL NOTES TO CONSIDER
The name of the meeting room will be emailed to you after a ticket has been purchased.
Bring a sample of your gastronomic venture (optional) to be photographed by you.
If you do not like mandarins, fell free to bring a fruit of your choice (preferably citrus)
The venue is wheelchair accessible (CSI Spadina's ground floor is fully accessible. There is a ramp at the main door to bring guests from the street level to our ground floor level.
Gender-Neutral bathrooms available onsite
No food is available at the venue, but we welcome outside food
The ticket is only valid for the date and time you select
Paid parking. There is metered parking all along Spadina or there is a Green P parking lot approximately 2 blocks north of the CSI, on the east side of Spadina. Also, there is a public lot on Sullivan St. Note that Sullivan runs westbound so you must approach from Huron St.
