About the Event
A one-of-a-kind evening with a Jewish musical legend!
Since October 7, 2023, Jewish people around the world have been singing the Acheinu prayer in synagogues, at rallies and at vigils, and Israeli soldiers sing it in Gaza. It has become a global anthem, and a symbol of comfort and unity for the Jewish people.
Jewish Music Week now invites you to a one-of-a-kind evening with the Acheinu composer himself, Abie Rotenberg. From his seat at the piano, Abie presents a very special, intimate concert, sharing the background stories of such hits as The Place Where I Belong (“The Torah Scroll Song”), HaMalach haGoel Oti, Joe Dimaggio's Card, and more.
Even if you don't know Abie, you know his songs. Joined onstage with renowned singer Simon Spiro, as well as other surprise musical guests, Abie will steal your heart with his captivating stories, powerful lyrics, soulful melodies, and warm, inspiring, folk-influenced style.
Abie Rotenberg is recognized as one of the greatest living composers of Jewish music today. He has released more than 20 albums, including notable series like D'veykus (six volumes), Journeys (five volumes), Aish (three volumes), and The Marvelous Midos Machine (four volumes). Abie has appeared on iconic stages around the world, including New York City's Madison Square Garden, and he has worked with such Jewish music legends as Mordechai ben David, Avraham Fried, Yaakov Shwekey, and Shulem Lemmer. In addition to his musical compositions, Abie has authored a 2015 novel The Season of Pepsi Meyers as well as detailed biographical works on biblical and rabbinic figures Eliyahu HaNavi and Rabbi Akiva. Abie is dedicated to inspiring Jewish values through art.
