About the Event

Engage with the AGB's collection through observational drawing before combining your sketches into unique collaged works

Age: 18+

Date: Saturday June 21, 2025

Time: 1 - 4 PM

Cost: M $45 and NM $50

Instructor: Breanna Shanahan

In this immersive workshop, participants will engage with the AGB collection of clay works on display in A Curve, Not a Line through observational drawing before transforming their sketches into a unique collage artwork. Participants will first explore the exhibited clay pieces through various drawing techniques, capturing forms, textures, and details with guidance on mark-making approaches and tool selection.

The workshop then shifts to a creative collage-making process where participants use their own drawings as raw material—cutting, layering, and rearranging their sketched elements into new compositions. This innovative approach creates a meaningful connection between the observational practice and the final artwork, as participants literally reshape their visual responses to the ceramic works. By using their own drawings as collage material, participants experience a novel creative cycle where they become both the gatherers and transformers of visual content.
