About the Event
Register here to get a Discount Code to see The Property as part of the Toronto Jewish Film Festival 2025.
This event is OFFSITE and not at a TPL branch (see location details above and below).
Register via TPL's Eventbrite page and receive a discount code which will let you see a free screening of this award-winning and heart-warming film directed by Dana Modan (star of the TV hits Significant Other and Florentine), adapted from her sister Rutu's successful 2013 graphic novel .
The story follows the emotional journey of Regina (played by comedy veteran Rivka Michael), a grieving Israeli mother who travels back to Poland with her granddaughter, Mika (Sharon Strimban) to reclaim a family flat that was lost during the Holocaust. Their different methods of coping with grief and trauma take them in separate directions, in pursuit of their own secret agendas. Unexpected encounters with locals connected to the past open a path towards reparation, reconciliation and renewed romance.
In-person screening : This film screening will take place TUESDAY JUNE 10, 2:00 PM @ Leah Posluns Theatre, 4588 Bathhurst Street, (North York) Toronto. We have made a certain number of seats available FREE to Toronto Public Library customers. Please see the Important Note below for details on how to register for this screening.
***
IMPORTANT NOTE : In order to obtain up to two free tickets to the screening, you must follow this process:
Step One : Register for a Discount Code via TPL's Eventbrite listing (the listing you're in currently).
Step Two : You will receive your TPL Screening Discount Code by email (check your spam folder if you don't see it in a few minutes).
Step Three : Follow the instructions in the confirmation email from TPL's Eventbrite account OR click on this link (Toronto Jewish Film Festival) and select which screening you prefer by clicking on the BUY button. Follow the instructions and enter the Discount Code on the final check-out/payment page . You can order a maximum of two tickets per order with the Discount Code.
Step Four: Once your registration is complete, you will receive confirmation via email from the TJFF with your ticket attached. It's this TJFF ticket that you will need to check into the event . The Eventbrite confirmation will NOT authorize you to attend the screening for free and you will need to register on the TJFF prior to attending the screening.
The Fine Print : We encourage you to register early for the screening in which you are interested in attending or viewing. TPL only guarantees a certain number of free spots for each screening; once that number is reached, the Discount Code will no longer work. TPL does not manage the TJFF website nor their ticketing process. Seats are not guaranteed so arrive at in-person screenings early.
If the listing here indicates this is SOLD OUT , it means that the number of TPL allocations is at its limit. You can still see the film by purchasing a ticket on the website of TJFF.com.
This film screening is done in partnership with Toronto Jewish Film Festival . It is also part of our programming series, Jewish Heritage created in collaboration with Miles Nadal - Jewish Community Centre . Join us in celebrating the diversity that strengthens our community and makes our city a more vibrant and inclusive place for all.
