About the Event

Join Homer Watson Gallery and McDougall Cottage in exploring and painting the landscapes in and around the Grand River
McDougall Cottage Historic Site and Homer Watson House and Gallery invite you to a unique two-session plein air workshop with instructor Raflar “Ralf” Wall that celebrates the beauty of nature, art and history, set against the backdrops of these two historic sites.
The Grand River will be our muse as, over the course of two afternoon sessions (one in an urban setting and one in a rural setting) participants will artistically explore the river's grandeur and mystery.
Each session will include a period of brief instruction, guided painting time, and a group sharing opportunity.
Dates and Locations:
Session 1: Sunday, June 8, from 1 to 3 p. m. at McDougall Cottage Historic Site (89 Grand Ave. S. , Cambridge)
Session 2: Saturday, June 14, from 1 to 3 p. m. at Homer Watson House & Gallery (1754 Old Mill Rd, Kitchener)
This event is suitable for both beginner and experienced artists and all mediums are welcome!
The total cost for this two-session workshop is $75 plus HST.
Tickets are also available for in-person purchase at both McDougall Cottage and Homer Watson House and Gallery during their hours of operation
Artists must supply their own materials. A list of suggested supplies will be provided upon registration.
Space is limited so be sure to register today!
Raflar “Ralf” Wall biography:
I have always pursued artistic expression my whole life. As a young child drawing animals and fantastic beasts to learning to play the piano. Eventually this formalized in college learning both commercial and fine arts. I have balanced this throughout my career being both a graphic designer as well as a painter, muralist and instructor of the arts. Most of my time is currently spent at the Homer Watson House & Gallery, promoting the legacy of this beloved Canadian Landscape Artist, instructing there and managing all graphical marketing content. I spend the rest of my time painting in the great outdoors, participating in art festivals and even leading an art safari to Kenya. Art is my life and I strive to bring life to my art.
