Practice using slabs, coils, and other handbuilding techniques to develop creative and intriguing serving vessels for your home. This six-week class will introduce students to large scale statement objects such as platters, serving trays, serving bowls, and more. Individual projects will be developed under Zoë's guidance through a study of the techniques required to hand-build serving vessels and finish forms with decorative techniques using slips, underglazes, and glazes.
About the Instructor: Zoë Pinnell is a ceramicist based in Hamilton. She is a graduate of Sheridan College and has attended residencies across Canada. Zoë's work consists of sculptural and hand-built objects that are decorated with colourful glazes, slips, and illustrations. She is influenced by historical patterns, tchotchke objects, and floral motifs. Her highly decorative work will bring you on a journey through the growth and interaction of gardens while meeting the creatures that reside in them.
ART SUPPLIES: Clay and firing fees are included in the registration fee. Additional clay is available for purchase if required.
