About the Event
Labour history walking tour in downtown Toronto with David Kidd on the Canadian Union Postal Workers (CUPW).
The walk takes participants by downtown Toronto sites associated with CUPW's history, from its beginnings to present day.
The walking tour passes by important Canadian Union Postal Workers (CUPW) workplaces in Canada and other spaces of gatherings including the site of the original convention of union delegates who approved the formation of the union. Held on Mother's Day as CUPW brought us maternity and parental leave.
We will meet in front of the Royal York Hotel, at the intersection of Front St. & York St.
Wheelchair accessible. Email programming@mayworks.ca with questions.
Mayworks Festival of Working People & the Arts annually presents new works by a diverse range of artists, who are both workers and activists. We prioritize the participation of artists and audiences from communities facing systemic discrimination. Our programming offers bold, insightful, responses to pressing issues at the intersection of art, social justice and labour. We are actively engaged in a social dialogue that challenges the logics of capitalism, and seeks to reimagine and represent a just future.
