About the Event

Join WNP and SF Chronicle culture critic Peter Hartlaub for a Family Dinner at Celia’s by the Beach in the Sunset District.

To kick off the holiday season, Western Neighborhoods Project is hosting a Family Dinner at Celia’s by the Beach on Thursday, November 13 at 5:30pm with special guest, San Francisco Chronicle culture critic Peter Hartlaub!

Join us for a joyful evening at Celia’s, one of our favorite west side restaurants where Sunset District residents have enjoyed authentic Mexican dishes made with love by the Lopez family since 1960. We’ll be sipping margaritas with Peter Hartlaub, co-founder of TotalSF and a frequent guest of our “Outside Lands San Francisco” podcast. It’s no secret that Peter loves Playland at the Beach, so we’re throwing a party with a Playland theme just a stone’s throw from where the gone-but-not-forgotten amusement zone once delighted San Franciscans.

This is your chance to catch up with neighbors and make new friends, support Western Neighborhoods Project, and give thanks for the history that brings us all together. You’ll also be able to enjoy a small exhibition featuring artifacts from the Cliff House Collection, installed to celebrate the restaurant’s 65th anniversary in September.

All guests of this relaxed gathering will enjoy snacks during Happy Hour, a small silent auction, and a buffet-style dinner serving dishes perfected by Celia and Perfecto Lopez en familia. We’ll round out the evening with “20 Questions with Peter Hartlaub.” Submit your question for Peter when purchasing your ticket!

And will there be a surprise guest?? You’ll have to snag a ticket to find out…

Individual tickets, $75: one (1) seat at a communal table, where you’ll have a chance to sit near Peter, and a complimentary drink.

Booths, $360: four (4) seats at your own private booth, which includes a complimentary margarita pitcher and special goodies.

Proceeds from the evening support our nonprofit mission to preserve and share the history of San Francisco’s west side, as well as a family owned and operated neighborhood cantina!
