About the Event
Learn the basic macrame knots and create your own beautiful wall hanging.
Join Us for another Sunday Crafternoon @ Kelley Jeans! This time we will be exploring the craft of macrame ("mack- cruh-may"), an old art form involving knot tying. Macrame originated with 13th-century Arab weavers who used decorative knots to finish textiles like rugs and such. Sailors then spread the craft globally, as it became a popular pastime on the ships, and a market item to sell. Macrame had a resurgence in the Bohemian 1960s and 19070s era and now is coming back yet AGAIN! We will start with a very easy, yet sleek and stylish project using a circular metal hoop and beginner knots. We will have a fun and relaxing afternoon creating beautiful macrame wall hangings and enjoying food and drink from Kelley Jean's. This in-person event is the perfect opportunity to unleash your creativity and learn a new skill. No experience is necessary - I will guide you every step of the way. Get ready to enjoy a few hours of crafting, chatting, and maybe even making some new friends.
