Gobble, Gobble, Give is POTLUCK WITH A PURPOSE:
For over 25 years, a groups of people in Los Angeles have gotten together on Thanksgiving morning to feed the homeless in their neighborhood. They all bring a hot cooked dish of traditional holiday food/side dish. Together these volunteers gather around together and pack their homemade dishes into great big take-out containers, and then they get back into their cars, hop on their bikes or set out walking down the street where they find people living on the streets, in a car, alley or under a bridge and bless them with a hot Thanksgiving meal.
Please READ Everything:
Crenshaw would prefer an RSVP for their head-count and requests NO CLOTHING DONATIONS. Food and toiletry kits are welcome and encouraged! We would love to have your helping hands and a hot side dish or meat dish so that we may feed more people.
VOLUNTEER IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
*This year, we are asking EVERYONE Volunteering to Donate Food.
Bring food a hot cooked side dish or meal dish to the event location
Coordinate taking in of food that is being dropped off
Help prepare plates of food together with your fellow volunteers
Help assemble meal bags together with your fellow volunteers
Create toiletry kits from donation items
Drive bags into the street to hand to a homeless person
PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING
- A DISH OF FOOD. Already cooked. Warm is preferred. It can be a side of vegetables (corn, green beans, stuffing, mashed potato, any thanksgiving side dish).
We can always use cooked turkeys, chicken, ham, any meat or main course items dinner.
No Desserts, Desserts are ready provided.
- SMALL TOILETRY KITS. that include a: toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, and shampoo, etc. I can donate at least 20 items for an essential kit to giveawy.
