About the Event
In this class, we will review the foundations and soft skills before diving into how to handle, choose, and use rope!
This event will take place at The Rope Collective Studio in Barrio Logan, San Diego. Visit the Contact + Location tab of our website for studio access information.
Two ticket types are available:
1. CLASS TICKET: attend the class as part of our floor series core curriculum
2. OPEN PRACTICE: access to the studio space for practice outside of the class. Floor ties only. Instructors are available for questions and guidance as needed.
EVENT DETAILS:
Part of our Core Curriculum and the first part of our “Floor Series”! In this class, we will review the foundations and soft skills before diving into how to handle, choose, and use rope! This class focuses on the smooth and efficient handling of rope, teaching techniques to avoid twists, start and finish ties, and create simple yet effective structures. We will show practical exercises, learning how to tie safely and maintain awareness for all involved. Throughout the session, emphasis is placed on building a solid foundation with the basics of rope movement, placement and some of the nuances of how it moves. This will make further techniques much easier to understand.
These techniques are highly recommended to begin the second part of our series.
Prerequisite Classes:
Foundations of Rope or equivalent experience (see below)
Required Foreknowledge:
Basic knowledge of foundations/ soft skills including: informed consent, negotiation, aftercare
Basic Safety risk knowledge including nerve impingement and loss of circulation.

Wear clothing that allows you to feel comfortable, empowered or expressive. You are required to keep under garments on.
Here's a list of items we use throughout most of our events, classes + workshops that will support your experience.

• 3+ hanks of rope + safety shears/cutting instrument
• notepad /pen
• water + snacks
*We have mats, blankets, pillows, safety sheers, snacks + NA beverages, and clean rope to borrow and for sale.
