Prepare to be educated, empowered, and connected to a community determined to ensure Black students are well-educated, successful, and supported in public, charter, and private school settings.
Meet Dr. Chike Akua, the powerhouse in educational transformation! As an Instructional Leadership Strategist and Assistant Professor at Clark Atlanta University, he's a sought-after speaker and author of 11 impactful books, including "ParentPower" and "Education for Transformation." These books are keys to unlocking the genius of African American students and are used globally for professional development.
Dr. Akua has produced a series of 70 Black History and African Proverb Posters along with Reading Revolution Online, a web-based academic support tool that increases reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammar and writing skills and cultural competence. His curriculum materials are used globally in public, private and charter schools, colleges and universities.
Dr Akua earned a doctorate in educational policy studies at Georgia State University, a Master of Arts degree in education with a concentration in school counselling from Clark Atlanta University and is a cum laude graduate of Hampton University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in education (concentration in English).
Featured in Ebony, The Washington Post, and Black Enterprise, Dr. Akua's influence extends beyond publications. He's led over 1000 students and parents on transformative trips across Africa. Residing near Atlanta, GA, with his family, Dr. Chike Akua is not just an educator; he's a visionary shaping the future of education…
In 2023, we launched our first Black Family Summit, with 140 delegates attending our sell-out event. Our keynote speakers, Professor Pedro Noguera and Michael Browning received standing ovations for their informative and thought-provoking presentations. Our workshops were well received, and we want to thank all the Black professionals who offered their skills and time to empower our Black families with well-thought-out workshops that uplifted every area of the strategy to encourage our Black families and community. Check out 2023's recap below.
Educators are innovators.
The Black communities that we are trying to serve, have little or no guidance. Many who come to America for the ‘American Dream', quickly realize that this is easier to achieve if they understand how to ensure that their children are properly educated. They are slowly beginning to understand that this is something they must learn how to do. Parents have many choices in education today; public school, charter school, independent school, faith school, magnet, gifted, sector-driven schools like STEM, dual language, etc. When you have this many choices in selecting the right type of school for your child, on top of which you must make sure they do well every day that they are there, it is very much a given now that you need to be taught how to make sure that this will work for both you and your child.
