About the Event
Join naturalist/writer David Hawke for a presentation and guided hike at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre to learn about Fungi
This is not the usual “can I eat it?” mushroom event… Fungi have a fascinating role within the ecology of our local landscape and this event will be focused on learning to observe and appreciate the many fungal forms encountered along the trails at Wye Marsh, which is situated in a National Wildlife Area. This no-pick experience will have you marveling at the amazing structures that bind all life together.

About the Instructor:
David Hawke is a local Nature Writer, Wildlife Photographer, and Environmental Consultant.
Working at Wye Marsh in his youth, he helped install our Osprey nest platforms!
About Wye Marsh:
Friends of Wye Marsh is a not-for-profit charitable organization taking care of 3,000 acres of provincially significant wetlands and federal forests in the Heart of Georgian Bay. This National Wildlife Area and recognized Important Bird Area (IBA) provides habitat for a number of significant species including provincially Threatened Least Bitterns, Species of Special Concern Black Terns, and the famous Trumpeter Swans
Wye Marsh is the perfect place to Escape - Explore - Experience the area's natural history as the site includes 25 km of all-season trails, a Birds of Prey field, and Visitors Centre!
