About this event

The City of Toronto is proud to launch the 2025 Cultural Hotspot program, celebrating the vibrant Jane and Finch community from June to October. This exciting initiative supports local artists and arts organizations to deliver free, public arts programming across the neighbourhood - from Steeles Avenue (north), Wilson Avenue (south), Weston Road (west) and Keele Street (east).

Cultural Hotspot is an annual arts and culture program that shines a light on Toronto's diverse communities outside the downtown core. Every two years, the program highlights a new area of the city, working in partnership with local organizations to bring workshops, exhibitions, performances and events to life.

In addition to community arts events, Cultural Hotspot also creates opportunities for youth mentorship and job placements in the arts sector.

This free launch event inside Jane Finch Mall (Northwest Entrance) brings together powerful performances, local food, giveaways and civic pride to spotlight the rich cultural fabric of the Jane and Finch neighbourhood.

Arrive early! The first 250 guests will receive a specially commissioned canvas shopping tote designed by a local Jane and Finch creative - available while supplies last.

The Cultural Hotspot 2025 launch is sponsored by Toronto Pearson and supported by Jane Finch Mall and media partners the Toronto Star, FLOW 98.7 FM and NOW Toronto.

• Welcome and blessing by Grandmother Kim Wheatley (Anishinaabe Traditional Grandmother)

• Hosted by Kibra

• Music by DJ CUR8

• Musical performance by Wheel It Studios

• Shantall Young and the VY Family with an Afro-Peruvian performance

• Remarks from civic leaders

• Vogue showcase by the Toronto Kiki Ballroom Alliance

• Roots reggae set by Hi Energy Band

• Food by Chef Chino
