About the Event

Join us in celebration of Winter Solstice with a guided nature hike to explore the incredible seasonal changes seen in the winter.

Celebrate the Winter Solstice with TRCA!

December 21 marks the winter solstice: the longest night of the year and the official start of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Across many cultures, this day is a time of celebration, symbolizing light, warmth, and community through fire, feasting, and storytelling.

Join us at Biidaasige Park for a guided nature hike as we explore how wildlife adapt to the winter season. As dusk falls, we'll light our lanterns to brighten the longest night of the year and welcome the longer days ahead. Afterwards, gather around a cozy fire to roast marshmallows and share the spirit of the season.

If you attended our Winter Solstice Series: Lantern Crafting event earlier in the day, don't forget to bring your hand-made lantern!

This event is part of TRCA's Winter Solstice Series. Learn more about this event series and the significance of the winter solstice at our website.

This event is intended for Ages 6+:
