About the Event
Based on the fairytale of Wilhelm Hauff, this 1950 first color Babelsberg production explores social injustices in the Black Forest.
Peter Munk, a poor charcoal burner, summons up the good Glass-man in the hopes of finding riches and material goods. His wishes are fulfilled, yet Peter soon wants more than that. He turns to the evil Dutchman Michel who asks for Peter's heart in exchange for making his wish come true. From now on he must live with a heart of stone. The Glass-man feels sorry for the young man once again.
