As digital technologies rapidly evolve, the Government of Canada faces growing challenges in securing its systems, data, and infrastructure. In his keynote address, Luc Gagnon, Chief Technology Officer for the Government of Canada (GC CTO), will share strategic insights into how the federal government is leveraging cyber security to navigate and respond to the evolving digital landscape. Drawing from his professional experience in DevOps, COMSEC, and SIGINT, the GC CTO will reflect on the evolution of cyber security — from a technical function to a central pillar of national security. The keynote will present the GC Enterprise Cyber Security Strategy, a framework built on four pillars that emphasize risk-informed decision-making, proactive defenses, resilience-building, and cyber workforce development across the Government of Canada. The GC CTO will also outline how the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) is setting cyber security policies, directives, standards, and guidelines for the entire federal government, in collaboration with Shared Services Canada and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security through the security tripartite model. Attendees will gain a forward-looking perspective on how the Government of Canada is remaining dynamic and responsive to the ever-changing digital landscape by aligning its cyber security strategies with a policy, people and technology lens.
